WHAT IS BRICKAIZER?

Brickaizer creates brick mosaics, including all the required data to start building right away. Coloured bricks is hot again! With these bricks you can make great predefined models, but its large selection of bricks, plates, shapes and colours allow for greater works. A growing community of (grown-up) people rediscover the potential of these little bricks and plates to create great pieces of art. And Brickaizer uses the renowned high speed colour matching engine of Mosaizer XV to optimize use of amount of bricks, colours and sizes.

Some examples that you can make within seconds with Brickaizer

Brickaizer is a stand-alone application that works under windows or under a windows environment in OS-X (mac). After installation, you can immediately create a brick mosaic. In the first period of use, the application is unrestricted and fully functional. When these grace days have expired a few professional features will be limited or locked.

PHOTO REALISTIC

The Brickaizer software is capable to create perfect colour matches with every possible combination of colours and sizes. Several high-accuracy colour matching engines are used, including colour- and black & white dithering, and the Mosaizer XV colour matching engine. Even from a close distance, the beautiful photograph can be seen, no need to step away 5 meters to get rid of the mismatching colour patches.

FULL CONTROL OF BRICK CHOICE

Several matching conditions can be set: always minimum cost, but also individual size and colours, per type of brick can be accurately preset. You can define the desired maximum amount of a certain brick because you don't have more of them. And the cost is accurately calculated. And the brick sets are completely integrated with the Bricklink data. Brickaizer can be completely tailored to your needs.

SAVE AND RE-USE

Brickaizer remembers your last and favourite settings as projects, so you can resume any time with your brick mosaic. Brick mosaic creation is interactive and very easy to use, and all output is in readable and printable formats, like bitmaps and excel spreadsheet with amount, cost and position/orientation data.

MINISTECK IS BACK

Brickaizer can also create Ministeck® mosaics. It uses the full spectrum of the just 5 different shapes, including the favorite L-shape piece. Brickaizer will optimize the use of commercially available sets and parts, so your cost is minimized. Creating your own Ministeck® masterpiece has never been easier.

BEADS ON A PLATE

Brickaizer is finally capable to also create bead mosaics. These little pieces of plastic enjoy new attention from many enthusiasts all over the world. It's not only a child's play, huge mosaics have been made, 250 thousand beads is no exception anymore. Brickaizer can create these giant mosaic as easy as making a mosaic for a 50 x50 peg board.

DOWNLOAD YOUR COPY

The software is free to use, is fully functional during the grace period, after which some restrictions will apply. It's freeware for aBy use. Some advanced features are only available for licensed users.
The current version is fully integrated with the Bricklink price database. These databases are regularly updated to keep your project cost estimation as realistic as possible.

DOWNLOAD THESE PROJECTS

Here are a few projects for you to have a look at. All these projects were made with the pre-installed databases of bricks and colours. In the zipped file you will find the HiRes picture of the mosaic, and the full building blueprint, incl amount and colours of bricks/beads.

Download examples. 1: Deadpool in bricks. 2: Minion in Ministeck® parts. 3: LaFerrari in Hama® beads. 4: Superman in bricks.

SOME EXAMPLES OF BRICK MOSAICS

Example 1: A great example of a bead mosaic. Brickaizer is using standard bead colour sets from Artkal, Hama, Perler and Nabbi and put on standard peg boards it's now absolutely easy to make your own piece of art. In 2 minutes time we have made a 200 x 128 cm mosaic, containing 407,200 beads to be built on 176 peg boards.

Example 2: The output as you will see when just pressing the 'Create mosaic' button, right after a fresh installation. The bricks are clearly spotted. The application uses a real brick picture to create this realistic 3D effect of the stud. The brick itself is created in the software code. Fast and efficient.

Example 3: This output is the result of a colour dithering pre-processing step. Human skin is a very difficult colour to reproduce, even with the vast variety of colours.

Example 4: A brick mosaic made from actual pictures of bricks. These pictures must be available to the application when generating a library of bricks, colours and sizes. After having created such a library and colour palette, you can now make any mosaic using this brick set. It doesn't get more realistic than this. Just thinking... when you would print it and hang it on the wall... would anyone see the difference with real bricks?

Example 5: A true piece of art made by Aaron Liepman: "2015 La Ferrari Brick Mosaic". It's an awesome example of how Brickaizer can be applied. It consists of 2900 1x1 and 1003 2x2 bricks in 16 colours, and measures 120.7 cm 44.5 cm including a handmade custom wooden frame. A little secret: start with grey 1x1 and yellow 2x2 bricks, and then make corrections by applying acrylic paints using an airbrush. Estimated value: priceless!

Example 6: Hey... Ministeck®! Ministeck® also has 'bricks' of plastic in a large variety of colours. Ministeck® only uses 5 shapes, including the much loved L-shape piece. It's all possible as you can see in this example.

Example 7: The building blueprint is an excel file, both for Ministeck® and bricks output. It provides accurate data for building the mosaic, using identification numbers for every brick, size and colour. And for group building sessions, the blueprint can be output as a series of 48x48 stud plates.

Example 8: The 'Whaam' poster build as a wall. Each brick is stacked on the other, where the brick is basically shown sideways. As can be seen in this example the brick is slightly higher then wide (9.6 versus 8 mm), and only bricks with the same stud-depth can be used in the model. This way great wall mosaics can be made in just seconds. Building itself might take a bit more time.

Example 9: Superman from large bricks. These child-friendly bricks can also be used to build supersize mosaics. This example is actually 2.56 x 3.68 m in real size. Large enough to fill a wall in the kids bedroom. The cost might be an issue however (est. 2600 euro).

Example 10: The eye of the tiger in different rendering settings. Left picture: standard bricklink database. Other pictures were made with a standard paint colour database (many find this cheating ...). From left to right: direct reduction to 16 colours; iterative colour reduction down to 16 colours; direct reduction to 36 colours. Cost: 100 euro of paint cans, and only 50 euro of 1x1 and 2x2 bricks.

Example 11: Mondriaan paintings: create this painting in just seconds. We have used a quite large mosaic size to show how interesteing this brand new feature (Brickaizer 4.0) is. It's cheaper than the original, and certainly more unique. This 'painting' is only 416 x 201 studs, but when on your wall it would be 3.30 x 1.60 m. The two insets are the mosaic source (left) and some detail (right). The background is in the original size mosaic.

Except for example 4, all these examples were made with the default installed data sets. Some examples were made after a few size and brick colour edits. All the bricks that were used in these examples are part of the pre-installed brick databases of bricks and Ministeck®.

I cannot get the size right for a finished portrait 11 × 14″. Don’t know how to fill in the numbers (Artkal Mini beads).

I cannot get the size correct. I want to make an 11 s 14 inch portrait with Artkal Mini beads on mini support (50 pegs x 50 pegs). I do not know how to fill in the numbers on the size. I want the finished portrait to be approx. 2 and a half pegboards wide and coordinate length pegboards. I am getting an extra wide portrait chart at a too-short length (skewing the portrait to unrealistic size). I can’t get this to work. Any help??
